Witchblade zal ook verfilmd worden. En als je het nieuws mag geloven zou het contract getekend zijn voor 2 films. Witchblade is gebaseerd op een vrij banale cartoon die reeds een adaptatie kreeg naar een vrij banale tv-serie. De grote troef van de serie was actrice Yancy Buthler die niet onaardig was om naar te kijken, tenminste als je het volume had afgezet. Om de officiële website van de show staat een kleine synopsis voor de filmversie:

But to wear the Witchblade is to be both its master and its servant, as this mysterious weapon draws to it what it needs and casts aside what it does not. Stirring to life at times of crisis – during wars, famines, pestilence – the Witchblade has been used to cut a swath of blood and viscera through the ranks of previously insurmountable evil.
Het klink allemaal veelbelovend, maar of ze het kunnen waarmaken om van een flauwe tv-serie een geslaagde film te maken is nog maar de vraag. Laat staan 2 films ! Voor alle rasechte CSF-fans (Cartoon, Science-Fiction, Fatasy) zijn dit wel de films waar we naar uitkijken. De bepaling van wie de films zal regisseren zal bepalend zijn. Wie uiteindelijk de nieuwe actrice zal worden iets minder, gezien in het verleden is bewezen dat knappe en/of talentvolle actrices geen garantie zijn op succes. Maar in tegenstelling tot Aeon Flux, Barb Wire en Elektra zou dit wel eens een heroine movie kunnen zijn die de moeite is om te zien. Waarom? Wel, voor de simpele reden dat je moeilijk een slechtere film kan maken dan die 3 vorige. Hoe dan ook, mijn geld staat op Battle Angel Alita.
